Zoom Groom!

Upon Amanda's advice, I bought Pumpkin a zoom groom. This is a purple rubber cat comb, with large rubber purple nubbins to pet the cat with. Amanda's cat Kappa has one, and he absolutely loves it. It doubles as a de-furring tool and kitty massage bar. So, since Pumpkin hated her current cat comb, I decided to try out the zoom groom.

I tried to introduce the zoom groom to her slowly, because she didn't really care for it off the bat. When I tried to comb her with it, she would walk away, while simultaneously getting as low to the ground as she could, to avoid the comb. Hmm...

This went on for a few days, when I stumbled upon a solution - she loves to be pet when she is eating her food. Weird, I know, because most cats hate to be touched when they are eating, but food makes Pumpkin so happy that she is happy to be pet as well!

So, when I fed her dinner today, I also started petting her with the zoom groom. She stayed put (well, of course, her food was there!) and she seemed to enjoy the pets.

Later, I was laying on the couch and Pumpkin was laying on my stomach. I started petting her with the zoom groom again - SUCCESS! She loved it! She was so happy, getting her little kitty massage. Hopefully, her love for the zoom groom is longlasting. I like to get rid of her fur before it's on the furniture.
