Loss of sleep
I am on the graduate recruitment committee in my department. I'm involved in getting new graduate students to our department each year. We are having a recruitment event in a few weeks, and I'm required to go around to some of the undergraduate classes and spread the news about it.
I went to a class this morning at 8am.
I'd like to point out that, normally, I don't even get up at 8am. I had to get up SOOOO early today to make it to the class by 8am. Plus, I had to be moderately awake in order to make an announcement to a classroom full of students.
Guess how many students were at the class I went to. Guess.
6. SIX!!!! SIX!!!! Out of a total possible 11!!!
I'd expected a lecture hall of 60 or so students.
Instead, I told 6 students about our recruitment event.
I could have slept in and found each student individually to tell them about it. I'd probably have wasted less time.
I'm only slightly bitter. At least I don't have to go to any more 8am classes.
