Maui Day 2 - Part 2

After returning from Lahaina, we spent a bit more time relaxing by the pool before I started getting ready to go to the opening of the conference. The conference was at the Westin Maui, however they were all booked up when I registered for the conference, so I was transferred to their other properties called the Westin Ka'anapali Suites. Thus, I had to take a 5 minute shuttle to the Westin Maui. Upon arriving at the Westin Maui, I was greated with a profusion of colour and extravagance. There is a large lagoon and waterfall in the lobby, as seen below:This lagoon comes complete with (1) flamingos:(2) birds of unknown name:(3) Hawaiian pigeons:(4) Parrots:(5) Another parrot:(6): Cockatoo:It was a little over the top, but of course, very nice. The conference started out without a hitch and the first few keynote speakers were fairly interesting. The ironic thing about the conference, was that they served us STARBUCKS coffee! Rather than serving us some Kona coffee, we were stuck with Starbucks Starbucks Starbucks. Here it is:That evening, Bindi, Mike (from my lab, also at conference) and I ate dinner at our hotel restaurant before heading to bed early.
