I work in a lab
As a graduate student, I spend my work days running experiments on my research topic, which ultimately will become part of my thesis. Here is my work environment - the lab. Here is one of the bays with lab benches. Mine is on the right closest to us. Karl's is across from me on the left. Note how clean my bench is.Yup, I'm neurotic and tidy. Also, Karl is excessively UNtidy - in fact, I've never met anyone so messy but completely capable of working effectively in the mess. He keeps his mess contained, though.
Here is my bench close up.That's my lab coat (which I sometimes actually wear - shhh, don't tell anyone), my pipette, my bunsen burner, my tube rack (orange) and some bottles. The blue boxes have pipette tips of various sizes.
Here is our student room. Note the tiny cubicles. This is where my desk is. Usually, only 3 or 4 of the desks are filled with people, but now that it's summer and the summer students have started, it's a weeeeeee bit crowded in there. I have to run the gauntlet of chairs to get to my desk everyday. Here is my desk:Less clean than my bench but I keep lots of stuff there. It works for me.
I hope you have enjoyed the tour of my lab. This is only part of it, but the rest looks the same so I figured I wouldn't repeat the images.
