Mount Robson 1
We left Edmonton on Thursday morning and arrived at Mount Robson provincial park around 1:30pm. We loaded up our gear and started our hike on Thursday around 2pm. We had 11km's to travel to get to our first campsite, called Whitehorn. Here we are at the start of the trip, excited and rearing to go!We hiked along the Robson river for 7km's. Shortly after starting our hike, it started raining, so we put on our rain coats and rain covers over our packs, and kept on going.
Following the Robson river, we reached Kinney lake:We stopped for lunch here and relaxed for a bit, enjoying having our packs off for awhile. The next leg of our journey included a decent elevation gain, making it tougher than the rest of our hike so far. We crossed the river where it widened over a gravol/sandy region, then started our climb up to Whitehorn. It didn't take us too long to get to the top, although we rested fairly often as we huffed and puffed up the hill. At the top, we crossed the river again using the suspension bridge.Whitehorn campsite is found in the Valley of a Thousand Waterfalls. Mount Robson is so tall, and on the other side of the valley were a bunch of other tall mountains, including some glaciers on top. From all these mountains, water collects and runs off and forms waterfalls throughout. We set up camp and made dinner in the shelter. Since it rains so much around Mount Robson, it's fantastic and practical that every campsite has at least a covered eating area.
It rained a ton that evening and throughout the night - we all felt pretty damp by the morning.
