Largo Arenula and Campidoglio

On Monday morning, we headed out around 9am to see the sights of Rome. We first came to a square off the main street called Largo Arenula. There were ruins here and Amanda's guide book said it's thought that Caesar was murdered there. It is now, however, a cat haven and contains hundreds of cats. Cats here:Cats there:The ruins:Mom, Dad and myself in front of the ruins:From here, we walked onwards towards the Capitoline Hill towards what we called the Campidoglio, although it seems to have a number of names (Capitoline Museum, Monument to Vittorio Emanuel II etc). Unfortunately, they were restoring some of the structure and there were white tarps up over all of the columns at the top:It's not quite as pretty as it usually is, but still impressive non-the-less. We walked up the stairs partway and took some pictures.

We left the Campidoglio, first stopping for a picture at this fountain:We walked north towards the Traiano forums, stopping for this photo as well. You can see the side of the Campidoglio in the background, and behind the family are some of the excavated forums.
