Beauty and the Beast
On Tuesday night, Bonnie, Sean and I went to see the musical production of Disney's Beauty and the Beast. It was held at the Citadel downtown, to which I'd never been before - I was pleasantly surprised with the Citadel complex, which holds a number of different theatres and reminds me of an indoor shopping centre. It was also pleasantly humid, as the Citadel boasted lots of tropical plants.
My main impression of the show was that it had a big budget for costumes and set design - it was so elaborate and fun! The costumes were spectacular, especially Lumiere (the candle guy) - his candle hands could actually create real flames! I thought it must have been heavy for that actor, though, to hold up those candle hands for nearly the entire production!
Overall, though, I really enjoyed the show - it was fun and colorful! Plus, the love story is such a feel-good one that you can't help but feel warm and fuzzy inside. I knew lots of the words to the songs, since I watched the Disney cartoon many times as a child, and some of the conversations were verbatim out of the movie too. It made me want to see more musicals, since we had such a great time at this one!
