Shakespeare in the Park
Tonight Garrett and I went on a date to see Hamlet at the River City Shakespeare Festival. The amphitheatre in Hawrelak Park is really quite neat, as it's open to the air all around. The tent extends over all of the seats and the stage, peaking high up in the air. The turnout for the performance was really good - it was basically full inside once the show started!
The last time I read Hamlet (hmm...the only time?) was in highschool, so I can't say that I recalled what the play was about before it started. The actor who played Hamlet was fantastic. Very dramatic, yet able to pull of some truly humorous moments as well. I really enjoyed it, despite the fact that everyone dies at the end. Ah well. They did the play with an early 20th century theme, so that the clothing, hair and shoes fit this era. Fortunately, all the mosquitos that could have plagued us were drawn to the stage where the lights were shining. Perhaps not so fortunate for those actors lying prone once they had been killed. Easy mosquito pickings, I say.
They had a raffle draw for a Vespa that I entered. I was feeling lucky so I decided to buy tickets. How cool would it be if I won a Vespa! I told Garrett I'd let him ride on the back with me, to which he just laughed...

Neat! Sounds like a lot of fun; they're doing a similar thing here that we're planning on going to sometime in the near future as well. Hope you win the Vespa, I think they fall in the same category as smartcars, i.e., transportation that I can't see without smiling :-)
I would be so excited to win a Vespa! How cool would I look riding one of those things around, with Garrett sitting behind me?
