Maui Day 5

On Wednesday, I again went to the conference in the morning and left after lunch. In the afternoon, I hit the beach with Bindi and Mike. We lounged in the sun (with some light misting showers in between) and played in the surf. We did a little bit of snorkeling, but I myself am not that good at snorkeling, so I only partook for about 5 minutes. However, in those 5 minutes, I saw about 50 fish! There was amazing coral reefs right off our beach, complete with lots of tropical fish. Bindi and Mike snorkeled for longer, since they fit the snorkel gear better.
Here I am on the beach, with my monogrammed beach towel (Christmas gift from Bonnie last year!):The beach:The beach:The beach:Bindi snorkeling:Bird on the beach:Later that night, we went back to the Westin Maui to enjoy the Gala Luau Party! I was super excited to see hula dancers! The patio was all set up beside the ocean and we found ourselves good seats near the stage. The band that played throughout the evening:
After dinner, the HULA DANCERS ARRIVED! Both Bindi and I were super excited. It was so fun to watch them. First, they came out in traditional fancy outfits:Next, they came out in skirts made of leaves:Followed by stereotypical Hawaiian dresses:
The last part of the luau was the best! That was when the FIRE DANCERS came out!! It was great! One fire dancer started off, then at one point, he threw his flaming stick across the pond to the other dudes, who caught the fiery spear and then lit their own sticks. It was fun!
