Hockey day in Kim-ada

On Saturday afternoon, Joelle, Ian and I were invited out to a hockey/potluck party at Bonnie's house (not my friend Bonnie - this is a different Bonnie). My friend Erik was back visiting from Sweden, so his former labmate Bonnie threw him a party while he is here. We drove out to her acreage outside the city and headed out back to the pond in behind her house. There, once the snow as cleared, we skated and played hockey for three hours! It was really fun and I wasn't nearly as terrible at it as the last time I was there for hockey.

Lacing up!There's the rink:You can see the two doggies on the ice - they were really funny because they went crazy after the puck for the first hour we played. We warmed up by playing "keep-away" from the dogs, and they would just run all over the ice barking their heads off. Eventually one of them would get the puck and carry it off into the snow, but they were usually pretty good at dropping it right away. Then the game would start again! It only got annoying when we were actually trying to play hockey.
Joelle and Erik, getting ready to go:Getting ready to play hockey:Joelle and Megan (not, it's not me although it sure looks like me. I thought it was me at first too! But I was wearing jeans and a pink hat) on the ice:Later on, once we'd been playing for several hours and just before we had to stop because it got too dark:You can see me in the middle of this picture - pink hat!
After the game, we carried all the gear back up to Bonnie's and settled in for the potluck dinner and visiting. It was a really good meal, complete with a large ham and pineapples (yum!). With the food and all the activity earlier, I was sure tuckered out by the time I made it to bed!
